Over the past couple of years we have seen an impressive growth in the digital sharing platform, TikTok. Here a number of new and unique beauty trends have emerged as a way to enhance one's appearance. In this article we explore the most popular beauty trends of 2022.

Cosmetic beauty trends

As non surgical cosmetic treatments such as botox and dermal fillers have become much less taboo in recent years, the demand has only increased. The taboo surrounding these treatments is said to be as a result of social media platforms such as Instagram and the influencers who dominate them opening up about the work they have had done.

If you are considering booking in for a non surgical treatment such as botox, lip filler, or facial contouring, we recommend booking as consultation with an experienced practitioner like Dr Hennessy. He is a nationally renowned cosmetic surgeon who’s treatments can help you to achieve your desired appearance.

Lip Filler

For many, it will come as no surprise that lip filler is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments within the industry and one that is said to only keep increasing in popularity. The exact reason as to why lip filler has become so popular is unknown, speculations include that it has become normalised by celebrities, and that bigger lips are in fashion at the moment. This treatment is simple and affordable for many offering a great solution for anyone looking to add volume to their lips.

Lip blush

A relatively new treatment that is becoming increasingly popular is lip blush. This treatment is a semi permanent cosmetic tattooing procedure achieved by depositing pigments into your lips using a fine needle. It has previously been known as lip tattooing but lip blush seems more appropriate as this is more of a cosmetic enhancement than traditional tattoo art.

Non surgical nose job

Another increasingly popular non surgical cosmetic treatment is the non surgical nose job. This procedure, also known as nose filler, as the name suggests achieves the appearance of a nose job using dermal filler. The reason for the growth in popularity of non surgical nose jobs include that the treatment is quick and has minimal recovery time with instant results that can last up to 12 months before needing to be re-treated.

A non-surgical nose job is a much safer way to dramatically enhance your appearance and can be used to define your nose and raise the tip, correct small bumps or reduce a bulbous nose appearance.

Makeup beauty trends

Whilst non surgical cosmetic procedures have been growing in popularity as a result of instagram, there is another social media platform that has emerged in recent years that is constantly generating new beauty trends. This platform is tiktok, where users share all kinds of videos from humorous clips to beauty tips and tricks. The growing makeup beauty trends include the following.

Clean girl makeup

One of the most talked about makeup trends on social media right now is the ‘clean girl’ look. This makeup focuses on a very minimal yet glowy look and a key focus on a killer skincare routine. Think a dewy skin base topped with a sun kissed blush, glossy lips and feathered brows. Those who are truly committed to this ‘clean girl’ aesthetic also have a go to hair style; a slicked back bun with no hair left out of place or up do involving a claw clip with curtain bangs that perfectly frame the face.

Tantouring

Another growing trend is ‘tantouring’, which is exactly what it sounds like- contouring using tan. All you need to do is take a self-tanner and apply it in the areas you would usually apply contour, i.e; the hollows of your cheeks, the top of your forehead, the sides of your nose and your jawline. The purpose of tontouring is to enhance definition in a natural looking way with the added benefit of longevity of the results.

So, the question is, which beauty trend will you be hopping on next?
